Which Mac Mini Should You Buy?

Choose by what you will actually do on it, not by the chip name.

• Mac mini M4 256GB (Rs 145,999): best value for office work, study, browsing, Zoom and light photo editing. Pick this if you store files in the cloud or on an external drive.
• Mac mini M4 512GB (Rs 179,999): pick this if you keep many photos, videos or project files on the machine. Apple's internal storage cannot be upgraded later, so buy the size you will need in three years.
• Mac mini M6 256GB (Rs 180,000): pick this for running AI tools locally, heavier video and 3D work, or a fast home or office network (Wi-Fi 7 and 2.5Gb Ethernet).
• Mac mini M6 512GB (Rs 224,000): the sensible M6 choice for working professionals who do not want to depend on external drives.

Mac Mini M4 vs M6: Side-by-Side Comparison

Is the Mac mini M6 worth Rs 81,501 more than the M4?

Only if you will use what the M6 adds. At 256GB the M6 costs Rs 81,501 more than the M4. That extra money buys a faster CPU and GPU, more memory bandwidth, Wi-Fi 7 and 2.5Gb Ethernet. For office work, study, browsing and light editing you will not feel the difference, so the M4 is the better buy. Choose the M6 for local AI tools, heavy creative work or a network-storage setup.

Which Mac mini is better for video editing in Nepal?

Both handle 4K editing, and the M6 has more GPU power and memory bandwidth for long timelines, effects and 3D. If you edit occasionally, the M4 512GB at Rs 179,999 is the practical choice because you also need space for footage. If editing is your income, the M6 512GB at Rs 224,000 gives you more headroom.

Need More Power? Look at the Mac Studio

If the Mac mini feels too small for your work, the Mac Studio is the next step up for professional video, 3D and AI work. We stock the Mac Studio M4 Max at Rs 434,999 and the Mac Studio M5 Max at Rs 515,000. The M5 Max costs Rs 80,001 more. Choose the M4 Max if you want pro power for less, and the M5 Max if you want the newest chip for the next several years.

Buying a Mac Mini in Nepal: Power, Dust and Warranty

Protect it from power cuts and voltage swings

A Mac mini has no battery, so a sudden power cut switches it off at once and you can lose unsaved work. Plug it into a UPS that gives you a few minutes to save and shut down, or at least a voltage stabilizer if your area has fluctuating supply. Browse UPS options in Nepal.

Keep dust out of the vents

Kathmandu dust settles inside small desktops over time. Keep the Mac mini on a desk rather than the floor, leave space around it for airflow, and wipe the vents with a dry cloth when you clean your workspace.

Check that your Mac mini is genuine and covered

Ask for the invoice with the serial number and get the warranty terms in writing from any seller, including New Road shops. Then enter the serial number on Apple's Check Coverage page (checkcoverage.apple.com) to confirm the model and coverage. A price far below the rest of the market is a reason to ask more questions, not a bargain.

Delivery outside Kathmandu

Onin delivers across Nepal, including Pokhara, Butwal and Lalitpur. Confirm delivery time and charges with our team when you order.

What You Need Besides the Mac Mini

The Mac mini does not include a screen, keyboard or mouse. Budget for these before you order:

• A display with HDMI or USB-C input: see monitors in Nepal
• A keyboard: see keyboards
• A mouse: see mouse options
• A UPS or stabilizer for power protection
